P4 Revision Books

Many parents have been asking me to recommend books to help you at home so I have made a list on www.amazon.co.uk which you can see by clicking here.
Of course, I DO NOT EXPECT YOU to buy books but I am aware that many parents would like guidance on how we teach maths for example the British way. The books I have listed are for different levels of understanding: ones which say "Key Stage 1" or "Year 3" are for those children who find some subjects difficult. "Year 4" books are a good revision of last year's objectives and "Year 5" books might be a bit hard as we have only done one term so far.

In England, the classes are as follows:
P1: Year 2
P2: Year 3
P3: Year 4
P4: Year 5
P5: Year 6
P6: Year 7
S1: Year 8 etc

In England "Key Stage 1" ends after P1 but as some of our children are younger than in England at this time, these books can also be for P2. These books show the basics so they contain the most important informtation. In my opinion, revision should always start with these basics as everything builds on these concepts.
"Key Stage 2" books are for P3, P4 and P5 but they are often written for P5 children to revise before the SATs and might be a little difficult for younger children.

I have included a science book on the list as it will contain a lot of scientific knowledge about all the science topics taught this year.

The mental maths books are very similar to the tests we do in school each week. They contain a CD, questions and answers to help your child to get quicker and more confident at mental maths.

Finally, there are two grammar books listed. These are the same book but one of them has some explanations in Spanish. I have taught English as a Second Language for over ten years now and I still believe this to be the best book on the market.

To find the ISBN numbers of a book, click on its title.

If you have any further questions, please write a note in your child's homework diary or speak to me at parent's evening.

The reason I recommend Amazon is that the books are sold quite cheaply, they are dispatched quickly and they have excellent customer service if you have a problem. I believe there is now free delivery to Gran Canaria if you spend over a certain amount and you can claim back the VAT by sending them a message with your order number.

I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing you all in the next two weeks.
