Mental Maths Test 2

Listen!

Here is the test I promised today. I hope you can understand it all as my nose is still blocked up. In English we do not say that our nose is constipated. Constipated in English is when you cannot go to the toilet so please be careful with this "false friend".
In question 2, the word is HALVE (I found it difficult to breathe when saying it).

Good luck with your mental maths revision!
See you tomorrow!

The Beauty of Life

I hope you all enjoyed the short animation we watched today.
"The Beauty of Life" is an example of how you can use a storyboard.
http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

You are going to create your own film narrative (storyboard).
If your ideas are really good we might film them and add them to our blog!
Here are some I did a few years ago with a 5th grade class (I think it was your brother´s class Carla!).

Some of 5th Grade did these for Pirate Day (Carnival) a few years ago.

If you would like to see some of the other work we did, click here.

Paper Mache Recipe

This sounds like a better way for us to use paper mache. In the past I have found the newspaper way quite messy. I will try to make some of this over the weekend and check that it works.

This method is very similar to the projects in the book that I was showing you. It allows you to create details much easier than the other method.

Let's see!

How to Make a Piñata

If you click here you can watch other wideos which explain how to make a piñata.

Mexican Masks!

Here are a few examples of Mexican masks.
Most of you found an image to use in our ICT lesson this afternoon.
Remember that you need to make a template for your mask on a piece of cardboard, cut it out and bring it in for Monday. It shouldn't take you too long.

Wednesday, May 11

Marvellous Mexican Mocktails!

Here are the photographs of your marvellous Mexican mocktails (cocktails without alcohol). I have been very impressed with your measuring skills in our capacity work this week! Please continue estimating amounts of liquids as it is very tricky.

Tomorrow you will be inventing an advert for your mocktail in our literacy lesson for our persuasion topic.

I was so proud of how you all worked together today and how you cleaned up so quickly. I am almost persuaded to do more fun things before the end of term so keep impressing me please!

In a few of the photographs you can see some of your finished Aztec Codices. When I have finished mounting them on the wall, I will add some more images.

Well done!

Canarian Balconies

As promised, here are some photographs of last year's balconies made by the now 5C and their families.

Remember that from Monday you should wear your Summer uniform.

We will be going to Firgas on a trip next Thursday so bring a jumper and umbrella if the weather looks bad on Wednesday night.

Thank you!

Cocktails!

I was thinking that we could make cocktails next week in our numeracy lessons as we will be studying capacity. What do you think? They could have a Mexican theme!!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

4C,

I couldn´t stop thinking today that I forgot something at school and thankfully I´ve just remembered. Today is an important day in Mexico (a national holiday) but it is NOT Mexican indepdendance day as some people think (that is the 16th September).

"Cinco de Mayo" is celebrated more in America than in Mexico but as it is a national holiday, many people do traditional things.

Today celebrates the Battle of Puebla (on 5th May 1862)when Mexico defended its city of Puebla against French troops. Mexico didn´t expect to win because there were about 6000 French soldiers and only 2000 Mexican soldiers.

This is the information I found on the internet and remember that we have to be very careful when using secondary sources.

If you would like to do some Mexico themed activities, click here.

Wednesday, May 4

Percentage of a Number Zap!

4C,

Go to this site to play a really good game to practise finding the percentage of a number.

You can choose which percent to practise. For example, if you find it hard practise 10% or 50%, if you find it okay practise 25% and 75%, and if you find it easy practise 70% and 90%.

Have a go!
